Made this sandwich recently because I had all the stuff to do it. Except the bread so I had to use regular bread. Well word spreads fast in this house and before I knew it everybody wants 1 and it just so happens that where we get our bread the cheese and onion bread is open again we get it at the Amish and they bake and sell in the spring and summer. So we can't wait. First day to get it is today.

prep time 30 Min
cook time 25 Min
method Bake
yield 6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 2 slices favorite bread(ours is cheese and onion)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mild chedder
  • 1/2 cup carmelized onions
  • 1 slice provolone cheese
  • 3 slices bacon (crispy)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for buttering bread)

How To Make grilled cheese turned up

  • Step 1
This is for one sandwich, I make six . So assemble I and repeat
  • Step 2
I bake the bacon ahead till crisp. While that is in the oven, I carmelize the onion, and shred cheese.
  • Step 3
When the bacon and onion are cool,I assemble the sandwich.
  • Step 4
Butter both sides of bread, place on a large cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Add the cheddar cheese, onions, and 3 slices of bacon Top with the slice of provolone and the other slice of bread. If making more than one repeat.
  • Step 5
Bake in 350 degree oven till cheese melts and bread is brown.
  • Step 6
This also could be done on a griddle. Going to try this next time I make them.
