garlic tuna melt (air fryer)
I remember tuna melts fondly from college, where they were made on a bagel. This version is a fusion of garlic bread and tuna melt, and I think it makes a more interesting sandwich.

1 serving(s)
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1-2 clove garlic
- 2 slices sturdy bread
- 1/4-1/3 cup tuna salad
- 1-2 slice tomato (optional)
- 1 slice melty cheese (swiss, american, quesadilla - anything that melts well)
How To Make garlic tuna melt (air fryer)
-
Step 1Mince garlic and mix with olive oil in a small bowl. Let stand at least 15 minutes, longer if you can.
-
Step 2Preheat air fryer at 360 deg F. Meanwhile, brush the garlic olive oil on one side of each slice of bread.
-
Step 3Place one slice oil side down. (Depending on your air fryer, it might be easier to do this right in the basket). Spread with tuna salad, top with tomato and cheese. Cover with second slice of bread, oil side up.
-
Step 4Transfer to air fryer - I find a turner and tongs really help. Cook for about 6 minutes - check at five minutes, air fryers really vary in timing.
-
Step 5The bread should be nicely browned. Enjoy!
-
Step 6Note: Quantities here are estimated, as it depends on the size of bread slices. Extra oil can be used to saute meat or veggies, or in salad dressings - refrigerate any leftover and use within a week. Make sure your tuna salad is not gloppy - be cautious in adding mayo if you are making it at home, and blot excess if you bought it at the deli.
