    cube fermented tofu with 1 Tbsp of the liquid
  • 1/4 c
    honey
  • 1/4 c
    hoisin sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    shaoxing wine
  • 4 clove
    garlic
  • 2
    inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp
    white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    Chinese five spice powder
  • 1 1/2 lb
    pork shoulder
  • buns, for serving

How To Make char su pulled pork

  • 1
    Smash the tofu with a fork. Add the honey, hoisin, soy sauce, shaoxing, garlic, ginger, white pepper, and Chinese five spice. Mix well.

    Add the pork to a plastic bag, pour in the marinade, and let sit in the fridge for 12 - 24 hours.

    Remove the pork from the bag and place in a slow cooker. Add the marinade. Cook on low for 10 hours. Shred with 2 forks and serve on buns.
