How To Make bonnie's perfect french dip sandwich
-
Step 1You will need a large crockpot or slow cooker.
-
Step 2Cook the roast and ingredients for 3 to 4 hours on high or until fork tender.
-
Step 3Choose a lean chuck roast for this dish. Trim excess fat from edges of the roast.
-
Step 4Add salt and coarse ground pepper to the roast and rub it into the meat.
-
Step 5Sear meat on both sides in a cast iron skillet with oil of your choice. I use olive oil.
-
Step 6Transfer the seared meat to the crockpot without drippings.
-
Step 7Add 1 cup of broth made with Better Bouillon beef flavored soup base to the crockpot.
-
Step 8Add one envelope of Lipton Recipe Secrets Beefy Onion soup and dip mix to the pot.
-
Step 9Add the chopped onions, 1 cup filtered water, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, and stir to combine the ingredients. Time to start the crockpot!
-
Step 10Time to eat! The liquid may not quite cover the roast, but in the cooking process, the roast makes its own juice, so there will be more au jus at the end of the cooking time. The au jus and the meat is melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
-
Step 11Pile the meat high! There is a bun under there somewhere!
-
Step 12Here is how the sandwich looks. I made the sandwich on a Naked Organic Bun. Use whatever buns you prefer. Choose one that is strong enough for dipping. Dip it in that wonderful au jus! Enjoy! Serve with these awesome French Fries. https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/side/potatoes/best-oven-baked-fries-and-potato-wedges-2.html
