Fantastic flavor bursts from this very easy recipe...a real crowd pleaser...be sure to double the marinade, and get the largest flank steak you can because leftovers are fantastic. I serve with rice under the sliced London Broil, and with a salad.

Ingredients For london broil

  • 1 - 3 lb
    flank steak
  • 1/2 c
    soy sauce
  • 4 Tbsp
    water
  • 6 clove
    garlic
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 tsp
    pepper

How To Make london broil

  • create marinade by combining all ingredients except the flank steak
    1
mix all ingredients together in bowl, after slicing or smashing garlic to create marinade...I usually double the marinade and cook the largest flank steak I can find because the leftovers are tremendous the next day
  • place flank steak in 2 gallon zip lock bag and pour marinade into bag...force out all the air, zip shut and refrigerate for 8 - 24 hours, longer the better, rotating the bag every 4-8 hours
    2
Place flank steak in 2 gallon zip lock bag and add the marinade, zip closed forcing all the air out of the bag and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or better overnight, turning over every 4-8 hours
  • small or mini broiler pan works great for this recipe...use the wire grate insert and set aside the insert for fish/vegetables
    3
Spray broiler pan with cooking spray and place meat in center. Discard marinade in zip lock bag and load flank steak on broiler pan into the oven broiler, 3-4" under broiler coils after they have reached "high" heat
  • marinated meat on broiler pan, placed 3-5
    4
Set timer for 4 minutes if flank steak is 1" thick or less, 5 minutes if greater than 1"...after, flip flank steak over and broil for 4-5 more minutes as you did with the first side
  • Cooked london broil, resting for 5-10 minutes on cutting board, ready for slicing and serving
    5
Remove from broiler and let rest 5-10 minutes and prep salad, rice or other. Rice is a nice base dish underneath the meat when served
  • Slice 1/8
    6
slice thin, 1/8" across the grain and serve. This will produce a rare to med-rare London Broil and is bursting with fantastic flavor
