Another recipe from my old Mennonite Cookbook! This recipe hails from Indiana. Have not tried this one yet. Going to have some guests (family) in early June, and plan to try this at that time. Another easy peasy recipe for sure. Almost like a baked spaghetti? You decide! Enjoy.

Ingredients For "wigglers"

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 3 slice
    bacon
  • 1 sm
    onion, chopped
  • 1 c
    peas, canned, drain juice
  • 2 c
    tomatos, chopped with juice
  • 1/3 c
    celery, chopped
  • 1 can
    mushroom pieces (small can)
  • 1/2 lb
    spaghetti cooked
  • 10 oz
    grated cheese - mild or sharp

How To Make "wigglers"

  • 1
    Fry bacon; when cooked remove from pan and break into pieces.

    Add onion and hamburger to bacon drippings and cook until meat is cooked and onions soft.

    Arrange cooked meat, vegetable and cooked spaghetti in alternate layers in a 8 X 8 casserole dish.

    Pour chopped tomatoes with juice over mixture; cover with grated cheese and bacon pieces. Bake at 350 D/F for one hour.
