Ingredients

  • 1-6 lb - hen
  • 2 1/2 lb - stew beef or deer
  • 2 1/2 lb - pork roast
  • 1 lb - dried lima beans
  • 5 lb - onion chopped
  • 10 lb - potatoes
  • 4 cans - tomatoes, canned and chopped, with liquid
  • 2 cans - corn kernels, fresh
  • 2 cans - tomato paste
  • 1/2 lb - margarine
  • 1 big - red pepper, dried

How To Make traditional fourth day camp stew!!!

  • Step 1
    Place hen,beef,pork,in large kettle and cover with water.bring to boil and reduce heat.cover simmer until tender.remove meats from broth and cool.reserve broth.remove meats from bones and chop.
  • Step 2
    soak beans overnight in enough water to cover.drain and add to reserved broth.add onions,cook until beans are tender.peel potatoes dice.mash tomatoes.
  • Step 3
    add the meats,potatoes,tomatoes to bean mixture.Add remaining ingredients and cook,stirring frequently,until potatoes are done and stew is thickened.
  • Step 4
    MY BE CANNED OR FROZEN. 13 QUARTS.
