Ingredients

  • 1-6 lb
    hen
  • 2 1/2 lb
    stew beef or deer
  • 2 1/2 lb
    pork roast
  • 1 lb
    dried lima beans
  • 5 lb
    onion chopped
  • 10 lb
    potatoes
  • 4 cans
    tomatoes, canned and chopped, with liquid
  • 2 cans
    corn kernels, fresh
  • 2 cans
    tomato paste
  • 1/2 lb
    margarine
  • 1 big
    red pepper, dried

How to Make TRADITIONAL FOURTH DAY CAMP STEW!!!

Step-by-Step

  1. Place hen,beef,pork,in large kettle and cover with water.bring to boil and reduce heat.cover simmer until tender.remove meats from broth and cool.reserve broth.remove meats from bones and chop.
  2. soak beans overnight in enough water to cover.drain and add to reserved broth.add onions,cook until beans are tender.peel potatoes dice.mash tomatoes.
  3. add the meats,potatoes,tomatoes to bean mixture.Add remaining ingredients and cook,stirring frequently,until potatoes are done and stew is thickened.
  4. MY BE CANNED OR FROZEN. 13 QUARTS.
