This is a recipe from my Searchlight Cookbook copyright 1931, These recipes were made during the depression era, This is a nice meal for something different and quick to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage
  • 4 cups canned tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup water

How To Make tomato dumplings

  • Step 1
    Form sausage into small cakes, Fry in deep kettle until brown, Add tomatoes. Season to taste. Heat to boiling. Sift flour, measure and sift with baking powder and salt. Add water. Beat until smooth. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling mixture. Cover. Boil 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
    A nice dish to serve with rice.
