sweet & sour pork
I've been making this for over 30 years. I sometimes do a dinner party with fried rice, stir fry vegetables, gingered chicken and store bought won ton soup.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless pork, cut in 1" cubes
- 1 can 20 oz. pineapple chunks in heavy syrup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup green pepper cut in 1/2" strips
- 1/4 cup onions thinly sliced
- - maraschino cherries, for garnish, optional
How To Make sweet & sour pork

Step 1Brown pork slowly in a little oil. Add 1/2 cup water, cover and simmer until tender, about 1 hour.

Step 2Drain pineapple, reserving syrup. In a saucepan combine cornstarch and brown sugar. Add reserved syrup, vinegar, soy sauce and salt. Cook stirring constantly over medium heat until thickened.

Step 3Pour over hot pork, let rest 10 minutes.

Step 4Add pineapple chunks, green pepper and onions cook another 5 minutes until peppers are done to your liking.

Step 5Serve with white rice. Cherries are a nice garnish, but are not necessary.
