sweet and sour pork with rice

i had sweet and sour chicken as a kid liked it and thought i'll try it with pork... hubby does not like pineapple soooo i added the sugar free manderin oranges[that cuts the pineapple taste down...use all pineapple if ya want...plus the color of the oranges adds to the meal.... no pic this time camera not workin now!!!!

Ingredients

  • 3-4 large meaty pork steaks[bout1 1/3 pound]
  • 2 cans [bout 20 oz] chunk pineapple,drained well...keep juice
  • 1 can [bout 8 oz] manderian oranges,drained well..keep juice
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cidar vinegar
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice with zest
  • - crushed garlic[to taste]
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • - salt and pepper,to taste
  • 1/2 large green bell pepper,sliced
  • 1/2 large red bell pepper,sliced
  • 1 package whole baby onions,pelled[bout a dz onions]
  • 1/4 cup celery heearts and leaves,chopped fine
  • 1 jar baby corn spears,drained
  • 3-5 tablespoons corn starch mixed with a t water
  • 6 - servings cooked rice
  • - chives

How To Make sweet and sour pork with rice

  • Step 1
    in morning...cut pork steak into bite size pieces...keep any bones and extra fat[will brown them up when ya brown meat jus to give more flavor... then will though out bones]
  • Step 2
    mix juices from pineapple,oranges,lemon juice,sugar,vinegar,garlic pepper flakes,salt and pepper in med bowl add cut pork to bowl cover put in fridge for several hrs
  • Step 3
    then cut peppers and peel onions,chop celery,put in fridge
  • Step 4
    TIME TO COOK: drain meat save juices.... spray lg fry pan with non stick spray heat til med hot add meat[and bones discard bones once ya browned them well] brown on all sides once all browned remove from pan add veggies gently stir[keepin onions whole] add a little pineappple juice to pan so as not to burn veggies...once veggiestender add meat back to pan cook and stir to cost all well
  • Step 5
    now add rest of pineapple juice mix lower temp to low cook bout 15 min now add cornstarch and water cook and stir til it thickens stir 2 min add fruit now stir well
  • Step 6
    divid rice onto 6 plates divid pork over rice chop chives and put a sprinkle on each plate
