  • 1 lb
    ground pork
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp
    corn starch
  • 1 tsp
  • ¼ tsp
  • 1 tsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 tsp
    grated ginger
  • ½ tsp
    roasted garlic powder
  • ½ tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1
    scallion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
    vegetable oil + 1 tbsp for rolling the meatballs

  • ¼ c
  • 1 Tbsp
    grape jelly
  • 2 tsp
    pineapple preserves
  • 2 tsp
    oyster sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 2 Tbsp
    rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • ½ c
    chicken stock, no salt
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced

How to Make Sweet and Sour Pork Meatballs


  1. Meatballs:
    Combine all meatball ingredients (except vegetable oil) in a medium bowl.
    In separate bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients, set a side.
  2. Place 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a small condiment bowl. Lightly oil your both hand as needed and use a tablespoon measurement to scoop the meat. Shape the meat into rounds (meatballs) and place in a sheet pan.
  3. Heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large non stick saute pan over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until golden brown all sides. Remove from the pan and drain on a plate lined with paper towel.
  4. Cook minced garlic in the pan for 15 seconds and add sauce mixture. Turn the heat down to low and add meatballs. Cover the saute pan and let the meatballs steamed and the sauce is thickened for 5 minutes.
  5. Uncover the pan and turn the heat up to medium heat. Simmer the sauce and stir until the sauce covering the meatballs. Turn the heat off and serve.
