Ingredients

  • - 1 lb. pork
  • - 1 egg
  • - 1 tsp. salt
  • - 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • - 1/4 cup flour
  • - 1/4 cup chicken stock
  • - 3 cups peanut oil
  • SAUCE:
  • - 1 tbsp. peanut oil
  • - 1 tsp. chopped garlic
  • - 1 large green pepper, cut into 1/2 inch strips
  • - 1 medium carrot, cut into 1/2 inch strips
  • - 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • - 4 tbsp. sugar
  • - 4 tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • - 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • - 1 tbsp. cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tbsp. cold water

How To Make sweet and sour pork

  • Step 1
    Trim pork of fat and cut into 1 inch cubes; set aside.
  • Step 2
    In bowl, mix egg, salt, cornstarch flour and chicken stock; seaside. Add pork cubes to egg and flour mixture and stir til meat is well coated
  • Step 3
    Preheat oven to 250. Pour the 3 cups peanut oil into a wok and set it over high heat. When oil begins to smoke (375 degrees), drop in the pork cubes, one by one. Fry for 5 to 6 minutes. Remove and keep warm in the oven.
  • Step 4
    To make the sauce, pour off the cooking oil and add the 1 Tbsp. peanut oil. Add the garlic, green pepper and carrot. Stir fry for 2 to 3 minutes. Pour in the chicken stock, sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce. Boil for 1 minute. Add cornstarch mixture. When mixture thickens, pour it over the pork and serve.
