These Swedish meat balls are delicious! Don't let the amount of ingredients intimidate you they're not that hard to follow these steps. I serve these over top of buttered egg noodles. The picture was taken with the left overs because I forgot to take a picture before we settled down for dinner , so sorry the picture isn't the best ...LOL

Ingredients

  • 2 - eggs ; beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups dried bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dill weed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • SAUCE
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 cans (14.5oz ea.) beef broth
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

How To Make swedish meat balls

  • Step 1
    In a large mixing bowl combine: eggs,milk,bread crumbs and seasonings ; set aside
  • Step 2
    in a skillet saute onions in butter until soft ; Add to egg mixture ; crumble beef and pork over mixture and mix in well.Cover and refrigerate for 1 hr.
  • Step 3
    Shape meat mixture into 1-1/2" balls , place on baking sheet. Bake uncovered 350 deg. for 25-30 min. Remove from oven an place in 3 Qt. casserole dish.
  • Step 4
    For Sauce: melt butter in sauce pan , stir in flour to make a soft paste , Gradually stir in broth and bring to a boil ; stirring constantly.
  • Step 5
    Reduce heat and stir in cream , dill , salt and pepper. If a thicker sauce is desired continue to cook for 10-15 min. longer,stirring occasionally.
  • Step 6
    Pour over meat balls ; Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes or until heated through and bubbly.
