Ingredients For super-size stromboli sandwich

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lb
    pork sausage
  • 1
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 jar
    pizza sauce (14 oz)
  • 1 tsp
    Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1
    loaf Italian bread
  • 1 pkg
    sliced pepperoni
  • 2 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese

How To Make super-size stromboli sandwich

  • Browning ground beef, sausage, bell pepper, onion, salt, and pepper.
    Preheat oven to 350 F. Fry ground beef, sausage, bell pepper, onion, salt, and pepper until browned; drain well.
  • Pizza sauce and seasonings added to the beef.
    Add pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and basil. Stir to coat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Bread on a foil-lined sheet with pepperoni.
    Split Italian bread in half lengthwise. Place on a large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil. Place a layer of pepperoni on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Spooning meat mixture over the pepperoni.
    Add a layer of the meat mixture.
  • Mozzarella cheese sprinkled over the meat.
    Sprinkle the top with the mozzarella cheese.
  • Top of bread over meat.
    Place top half of bread on the layers.
  • Sandwich wrapped in foil and baking.
    Wrap foil tightly around the sandwich. Bake 15 minutes.
  • Sandwich cut into slices.
    Cut into 6 pieces and serve hot.
