Ingredients

  • 12
    medium or large cabbage leaves
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lb
    ground pork
  • 1 1/3 c
    hot prepared minute rice
  • 2
    eggs slightly beaten
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    barbecue sauce
  • 1 c
    water

How to Make Stuffed Cabbage

Step-by-Step

  1. Boil cabbage leaves in salted water for about 3 minutes, drain, combine beef, pork, rice, eggs, salt, onion, milk and 1/2 C. sauce, mix well. Place 1/2 C. meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf, fold over sides and ends of leaves, secure with wooden picks. Saute in butter about 5 minutes or until golden on both sides. Add 1/2 C. sauce and water. Cook, covered, 40 minutes, basting twice. Then cook uncovered 5 minutes longer. For 1 1/3 C. hot prepared rice, prepare 2/3 C. rice according to pkg. directions.
