This was a favorite dish of mine growing up and recently just found the recipe again and thought I'd share it....its absolutely delicious! *tip* This dish can be made a day in advance and left to marinate, giving a richer flavor to the pork.

Ingredients For steamed five spice pork

  • 1 Tbsp
    oil
  • 4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 lb
    pork flap/side pork ,cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 tsp
    five spice powder
  • 1/4 c
    coriander root/cilantro, minced
  • 1/2 tsp
    white pepper
  • 1/4 c
    sweet soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    light soy sauce
  • 1/4 c
    fish sauce (found in asian markets or your local grocery store)
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 c
    water
  • 8
    hard boiled eggs, peeled and cooled, whole

How To Make steamed five spice pork

  • 1
    Heat a large saucepan and add the oil and garlic. cook for one minute on medium. Add the pork and stir. Add the remaining ingredients, making sure to leave the eggs whole.

    Covr and simmer for 15 minutes until the pork is tender. Remove to serving bowls and serve with freshly steamed Jasmine rice.
