I think my mom made this with leftover rice. I make my rice fresh, but I have used leftover for it, too.
It is a comfort food that I crave now and then.

Ingredients

2 c
rice, already cooked. i use minute rice
4-5 slice
bacon, fried crispy and broken in small pieces
1 ml
onion, chopped
1 can(s)
tomato sauce or puree
1/4-1/2 c
sugar
1 lb
ground beef, browned and drained (optional)
salt and pepper, to taste

Step-By-Step

1Cook rice. If use Minute rice, follow directions. Can use leftover rice.
2Fry bacon till crispy and break into small pieces
3Fry chopped onion in bacon grease.
4Add all ingredients to cooked rice. The salt and sugar are to taste. Stir. Can either heat in skillet on stove top or heat in microwave.
5This can be made as a side if you don't use the hamburger in it.
