smothered pork chops with onions

This is one of my husband's favorite meat dishes.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium pork chops
  • 1 slice vidalia onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups water

How To Make smothered pork chops with onions

  • Step 1
    rinse pork chops off and pat dry.
  • Step 2
    mix salt,black pepper and paprika together in a bowl, then add to pork chops.
  • Step 3
    coat the pork chops with the flour on both sides.
  • Step 4
    heat vegetable oil on medium setting,when oil is hot add pork chops and brown on each side. When browned remove from skillet and place on plate.
  • Step 5
    Then add onions to skillet and slightly brown them, then add any remaining flour to the skillet and brown and add the water and stir.
  • Step 6
    Add the pork chops to the gravy mixture, reduce heat to simmer, cover and cook for 35 mins.
