My husband and I enjoyed these pork chops which were smothered in a tasty mushroom thyme gravy. I saw a recipe in an old cookbook similar to this one (I did my own thing) I had a few pork chops just enough for us and this is what I came up with and I'm glad I did because it turned out wonderful.

prep time 10 Min
cook time 1 Hr
method Stove Top
yield 4-6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 4-6 - boneless pork chops
  • 1/2 cup flour (optional)
  • 1/4 cup oil (just enough to brown chops not much)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 can fried onion rings
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 - small can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes

How To Make smothered pork chops

  • Step 1
Salt, pepper and flour chops and brown until medium brown. Place chops in the bottom of a baking dish. Combine soup, water and thyme and heat. Add half can of onion rings, parley, and milk and mix well. Pour sauce over chops. Cover and bake 1 hour or until tender 350 degrees. Remove cover, top with remaining onions and bake another 5 or 10 minutes.
