Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

  • 1 box
zatarans red bean and rice mix
  • 1 pkg
    little smokies cocktail sausages
  • 1 can(s)
28 oz diced tomatoes plus liquid
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, cold

How to Make Smoky Mountain Magic

Step-by-Step

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet. Add rice only from mix and stir until browned. Add seasoning packet, water as directed on the box. Stir to incorporate.
  2. When mixture begins to boil, add water less liquid from canned tomatoes. I usually put the juice from the tomatoes in a measuring cup then add enough water to what the package calls for. You must lessen the amount of water to accommodate the juice from the tomatoes. Add tomatoes and sausages. Stir to combine. Cook according to directions on rice mix package.
  3. When done stir to combine again. Let sit for about 10 minutes before serving. Any remaining liquid will be absorbed.
