I made BBQ today using the slow cooker and man was it good!! All you need is wonderful spice rub, a nice Boston Butt, some lip smacking good BBQ sauce and a slow cooker. Slow cook it and then serve on a bun for a lip smackin' good sammie! Served with a side of "Loaded Smashed New Potatoes", it just couldn't get any better! Enjoy!! The Spice Rub is adapted from Cooks Illustrated. Photo's are mine.

How To Make slow cooker pulled pork - dee dee's

  • Step 1
For Spice Rub: measure out ingredients and combine.
  • Step 2
Massage spice rub over Boston Butt, double wrap (tightly) and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. The longer it's refrigerated the more flavorful it will be. You can keep in fridge up to 3 days. For any spices leftover, store in an airtight container.
  • Step 3
Place Boston Butt in slow cooker, add 1/4 cup water, set on high and cook for 3 1/2 hour or until tender. You can cook on a low heat 8 to 10 hours. The longer it cooks the more flavorful it will be. You don't need much water, this just gets the cooking process started. You will discard all liquid when done.
  • Step 4
Once tender; remove from slow cooker; place in a dish; pull apart with 2 forks. Discard fat. Discard juices in slow cooker and returnd shredded meat to cooker. Add 1 cup of BBQ sauce and stir to coat meat. Reduce heat to low and cook an additional 30 minutes. Serve on toasted buns with additonal sauce.
  • Step 5
MY BBQ SAUCE: Mix all ingredients together.
