Ingredients

  • 1 - pork shoulder roast (bone-in)
  • 1 cup bbq sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 to 3 dashes crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 4 to 6 dashes liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 large chopped yellow onion
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic

How To Make slow cooker pulled bbq

  • Step 1
    Salt and pepper both sides of pork roast and place in crock pot with fat side up.
  • Step 2
    Pour in BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar and chicken broth.
  • Step 3
    Stir in brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cinnamon, thyme, onion, garlic, crushed red pepper and liquid smoke.
  • Step 4
    Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours overnight.
  • Step 5
    Remove roast from cooker and take out bone and fat. Shred pork using a fork.
  • Step 6
    Strain liquid and return to cooker, stirring in pulled pork. Add additional salt, BBQ sauce and liquid smoke to desired taste.
  • Step 7
    Cook on low for another 2 to 3 hours, allowing meat to soak up flavor.
