I like to slice the sausages on the diagonal before putting in the slow cooker. But I've also left them whole - both ways work. Serve over mashed potatoes....yummm!

prep time 30 Min
cook time 8 Hr
method Slow Cooker Crock Pot
yield 6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 8 medium farmers sausages (or any plump pork sausage)
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons flour (heaping tbsp)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (heaping tbsp)
  • 1 teaspoon bovril (optional)
  • 1 can beef stock
  • 1 bottle dark beer (guinness)

How To Make slow cooker guinness sausages

  • Step 1
Fry the sausages using a little oil in a non-stick pan over a moderate heat. When lightly colored on all sides, remove from the pan. Place the sausages in the slow cooker.
  • Step 2
Slice the onions thinly and mix them with the flour and brown sugar. Put this mixture over the sausages.
  • Step 3
Pour the bovril, beef stock and beer over the top.
  • Step 4
Cook on high for 4 - 5 hours or low for 8 - 10 hours.
