I like to slice the sausages on the diagonal before putting in the slow cooker. But I've also left them whole - both ways work. Serve over mashed potatoes....yummm!

Ingredients For slow cooker guinness sausages

  • 8 md
    farmers sausages (or any plump pork sausage)
  • 2 lg
    onions, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour (heaping tbsp)
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar (heaping tbsp)
  • 1 tsp
    bovril (optional)
  • 1 can
    beef stock
  • 1 bottle
    dark beer (guinness)

How To Make slow cooker guinness sausages

  • 1
    Fry the sausages using a little oil in a non-stick pan over a moderate heat. When lightly colored on all sides, remove from the pan. Place the sausages in the slow cooker.

    Slice the onions thinly and mix them with the flour and brown sugar. Put this mixture over the sausages.

    Pour the bovril, beef stock and beer over the top.

    Cook on high for 4 - 5 hours or low for 8 - 10 hours.
