Add to Grocery List

2 lb
lean ground beef
links hot italian sausage (remove casings)
links sweet or mild italian sausage (remove casings)
garlic cloves chopped
small can chopped black olives
3 loaf package frozen bread dough
salt and pepper to taste
1/3 c
bag shredded mozarella cheese

How to Make Sicilian Sandwiches

  • 1The night before you make these, place all three loafs in bread pans that have been sprayed and place on counter over night covered with a towel. In the morning place in fridge until you are ready to assemble.
  • 2Mix all ingredients except bread dough, with your hands. When thuroughly mixed, place on a cookie sheet and cook it like a meat loaf, forming it in an oval shape. Bake it at 350 until cooked all the way through. Cooking time will depends how thick you make your loaf.
  • 3Allow meat to cool enough for you to handle and break into small pieces.
  • 4Roll out each loaf one at a time and cut into four squares. Fill the middle of the square with meat, I usually add about 4 tablespoons or so, depending how big my square is and top with mozzarella cheese. Fold the corners over the meat mixture. Pinch the top and sides closed, use water on your fingers to help keep it sealed together.
  • 5Bake at 350 until golden brown. I always server these with good spagetti sauce.
