I used to make only scalloped potatoes and ham but one day I asked myself what would happen if I used pork chops instead of ham. The results were amazingly good, so now I alternate between the two.

potatoes
1 Tbsp
oil
1/2 c
all purpose flour

3 Tbsp
butter
2 Tbsp
all purpose flour
1 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
pepper
2 1/2 c
milk
1 Tbsp
minced onion

How to Make SCALLOPED POTATOES & PORK CHOPS

Step-by-Step

  • 1Pare potatoes and slice thin; coat pork chops with small amount of flour and brown on both sides in oil in a large skillet.
  • 2In a medium saucepan, melt butter; add flour, salt and pepper, and minced onion. Mix with melted butter till thickened. Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly. Keep stirring until it starts to thicken.
  • 3Place potatoes in Dutch oven or large baking dish. Pour half of white sauce over them. Place pork chops on top. Cover with remaining white sauce.
  • 4Bake, covered, in a 350-degree oven for 1 hour. Remove lid and bake another 30 minutes.
  • 5You may also add 4 to 8 ounces of cheddar cheese to the white sauce while it is hot.
