You can sub Turkey sausage & bacon in this recipe to make it lighter. This recipe was revised and improved on 2.2.15

Ingredients

  • 4-6 - sweet italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup sweet onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 ounces can of dice tomatoes w/oregano, basil & garlic, no salt added, pureed in food processor
  • 2 slices bacon, diced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound dry pasta

How To Make sausage, bacon & mushroom pasta with sauce

  • Step 1
    Slice sausage links in 1/2" slices, place in skillet with diced bacon, onion and garlic and cook until browned. Drain off grease and add mushrooms, puree diced tomatoes, a few drops of lemon juice and a pinch of sugar and salt to taste. Allow to simmer for about 20 min.
  • Step 2
    Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain pasta, add butter and stir until melted. Add 1/4 c parmesan and toss. Now add to sauce and toss well to coat. Garnish with Parmesan and Basil.
