My mother used to make this simple, quick and cheap meal! She sadly is now in a care home, but the 'recipe' goes on

This recipe is equally suited to tinned baked beans to replace tinned tomatoes

2 pkg
pork sausages (cooked and cut into chunks)
2 can(s)
chopped tomatoes in juice
onion (chopped & cooked)
500 g
potatos (par boiled and sliced into thin slices)

How to Make Sausage Hotpot (like my mother used to do)


  • 1Place a layer of cooked sausages in bottom of an oven proof dish (lasagne dish or casserole dish are fine) (Using about half the sausages)
  • 2Next sprinkle over the cooked onion (Using about half the onion)
  • 3Now spoon over 1 tin of tomatoes
  • 4Next layer the par boiled potatoes to cover the whole mixture
  • 5Now repeat steps ending with the potato mixture
  • 6Now place in pre - heated oven (180 c) and cook for about 1 to 1 and 1/4 hours or until golden brown
  • 7Serve with warm fresh bread and butter
