rich and spicy chili

This recipe was given to me by a close friend and I have in turn been asked to pass it along. To me it's the best chili I've had! Hope you enjoy it.

yield makes 3 1/2 quarts

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 1/2 pounds bulk pork sausage
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 large green bell pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3- 14 ounces cans whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 3 tablespoons chili seasoning packet
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1- 14 ounces can pinto beans, undrained
  • 1- 6 ounces can tomato paste
  • 1- 14 ounces can beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper

How To Make rich and spicy chili

  • Step 1
    Combine beef and sausage in large dutch oven. Cook until brown, stirring to crumble; drain.
  • Step 2
    Add onion and remaining ingredients, except beans, and stir well. Cover and simmer over low heat 2 1/2 hours, stirring frequently. Stir in beans and cook for 30 more minutes. Enjoy!
