red beans and rice

I am not certain where I got this recipe. We have had it for years and it is very tasty. Again since my family has food allergies we cook a lot from scratch and this is one that we can make for our family. YUM!

Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1 pound polish sausage sliced
  • 2 cans kidney beans, canned (15 oz)
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 small diced green pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parsley flakes
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 8 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup rice

How To Make red beans and rice

  • Step 1
    Fry bacon and dice after fried. In bacon drippings saute vegetables. After vegetables are wilted add sausage, beans, parsley, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, chili powder, garlic, salt and pepper and cook until sausage is hot.
  • Step 2
    In separate pan cook one cup rice to package directions.
  • Step 3
    Mix rice and beans.
  • Step 4
    Enjoy!
