tomato sauce

chili powder

cumin

beef bouillon
2 tsp
oregano
2 tsp
paprika
2 tsp
sugar
1 tsp
cocoa
1/2 tsp
hot sauce
1 tsp
flour
1 tsp
cornmeal
1 Tbsp
warm water
1/2 tsp
coriander, ground

How to Make Prize Winning Chili

Step-by-Step

  • 1In large saucepan or dutch oven, brown half the meat; pour off fat.
  • 2Remove meat.
  • 3Brown remaining meat; pour off all fat except 2 tablespoon.
  • 4Add onion, garlic; cook and stir until tender.
  • 5Add meat and remaining ingredients except flour, cornmeal and warm water.
  • 6Mix well.
  • 7Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer covered 2 hours.
  • 8Stir together flour and cornmeal; add warm water.
  • 9Mix well.
  • 10Stir into chili mixture.
  • 11Cook covered 20 minutes longer.
  • 12Serve hot.
  • 13Makes 2 quarts.
