pork or beef stew
(2 RATINGS)
I like to play around with traditional recipes and make them my own. This stew will warm your tummy on a cool autumn or winter evening. It's also a breeze for any weekend you don't feel like camping in the kitchen. Just make it and forget it until you're ready to eat. The slow cooker liner makes clean up a snap. I believe the liners come in 2 different sizes, so know your crock size before you buy it.

How To Make pork or beef stew
-
Step 1I line my crock pot with a slow cooker liner. Then add about 1/2 cup of water so the pork or beef wont stick. Add meat then add season salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. My family is very picky. so I keep it simple. I add the carrots, dice the celery and potatoes. Add a little more seasoning over the raw veggies, then I add the can of diced tomatoes. Stir it up a bit, then add the tomato sauce and some italian seasoning or oregano onto that. I cover and let cook on high for approx 3-4 hrs. I then add more italian seasoning or oregano, cover and continue to cook on high about 1-1/2 hrs and turn it to low if its boiling. About 6 hrs or so total time.

Step 2I only have 3 people in my family so I use a small 1-1/2 quart crock, but you can modify the recipe as needed if you have a large one. Just use large can's of sauce and diced tomatoes instead. I personally like it as thick as pasta sauce, but you can thin it out with water which I've done if the liquid doesn't cover the veggies.
