Ingredients
- PORK CHOPS
- 4 - bone-in pork chops
- - bread crumbs
- - kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 large egg
- - shortening, for frying
- MUSHROOM SAUCE
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons corn starch
- 1 cup half and half
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 dash kosher salt
- 1 dash pepper
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon dry sherry
How To Make pork chops with mushroom sauce

Step 1First, make the pork chops. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Step 2Add the bread crumbs to a plate and mix in salt and pepper, to taste. Whisk the egg in a pie plate. Dip each pork chop into the egg and then into the bread crumbs on both sides.

Step 3Heat the shortening in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and brown well on both sides.

Step 4Place the pork chops in an oven-safe casserole dish and drizzle the pan juices over them. Cover and bake for about 45-50 minutes.

Step 5Meanwhile, make the mushroom sauce. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Saute the mushrooms until they are golden brown.

Step 6In a bowl, whisk the corn starch and half-and-half until there are no lumps. Add this mixture to the mushrooms and simmer, stirring until thickened.

Step 7Add the cheese and let it melt, stirring it into the sauce. Add the salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and sherry. Stir to combine.
