pork chops in sour cream applesauce
Apples seem to go naturally with pork. 'Tis the season, so I thought I'd put this recipe on here for one of those cold nights, when you're looking for something filling and hearty - and simple! This is a great meal served with cooked cabbage, Brussels sprouts, or broccoli, or baked squash. A real fall meal.

How To Make pork chops in sour cream applesauce
-
Step 1Trim excess fat off the pork chops.
-
Step 2Brown the chops in a large frying pan in 2 Tbsp of olive oil. Once browned, remove them and set aside.
-
Step 3Saute onions in the drippings.
-
Step 4Add 1 cup of water to the pan to deglaze it.
-

-
Step 6Mix well.
-
Step 7Return the chops to the pan and smother with the sauce.
-
Step 8Cover and cook gently on medium-low heat until the chops are cooked through, approximately 35 - 40 minutes. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of water as needed while the pork chops simmer.
-
Step 9Once the chops are tender, remove them and set aside. Add sour cream to the applesauce mixture.
-
Step 10Heat through. Do not bring to a boil. Salt and pepper to taste.
-
Step 11Pour sauce over the chops, and serve.
