Ingredients
- 2 pounds pork meat for stew
- 2 - apples chopped
- 1 1/2 cups onions chopped
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 - star anise
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup raisins
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups bisquick mix
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- - salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon rubbed sage
How To Make pork and apple stew with cheddar cheese dumplings

Step 1Brown the pork in a stew pot, remove and set aside

Step 2In the same pot,brown the onions,then add the celery seed, rubbed sage ,star anise,and cinnamon. Cook these together for about 5 minutes.

Step 3Add the chopped apples and raisins, remove the star anise.

Step 4Add butter,let it melt,then add the flour. Stir until it is well blended, just a few seconds.

Step 5Add 2 c of chicken broth and stir. Return the browned pork to the stew pot.

Step 6On a low temp simmer on the stovetop for about 30 minutes.

Step 7Raise the temperature to med-high and add the rest of the chicken broth and stir. This helps to steam the dumplings.

Step 8Mix together Bisquick mix, milk and cheese. Do not overmix. Drop by spoonfuls on top of the stew cover and let cook until the dumplings are done. They should just about double in size.
