This recipe was in with my closet stash of recipes. So, it is an older recipe. Tasty and healthy! If you aren't concerned about the healthier aspect, you could add half a pound of Italian sausage, in place of the prosciutto/ham ingredient. Or, if you want vegetarian, leave out both.

Ingredients For pasta with garden sauce

1onion, chopped

2 clovegarlic, minced

2 Tbspolive oil

1 can(28 oz) whole tomatoes, with juice

2 can(8 oz) tomato sauce

1 pkg(16 oz) vegetables, like california blend or stir-fry or various veggies from your garden

2 citalian ham, like prosciutto or thin sliced regular ham, chopped*

1 cgrated fresh romano cheese or combo of romano and parmesan*

1 tspdried oregano
-
1 tspdried basil
-
1 tspdried rosemary
-
1 tspsalt

1 tsplight brown sugar, firmly packed

hot cooked pasta like mostaccioli, penne, ziti or your choice

*this item could be eliminated to make it vegetarian or use a alternative for meat like tvp

*for a vegetarian option, use a romano or parmesan cheese alternative

*for a heartier meal, substitute italian sausage for the prosciutto or ham
How To Make pasta with garden sauce

1In a large saucepan, sauté onions and garlic in hot oil for 5 minutes. Do not burn garlic. Add tomatoes with juice and crush them. Add remaining ingredients, except pasta; bring to a boil. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Serve over hot pasta. Makes 8 servings.
