This roast has become a tradition in our family for New Years Day dinner. We love it whether it's made in the oven or, the crock pot.

Ingredients

  • 1
    pork loin or 2 tenderloins
  • 2
    granny smith apples sliced
  • 1
    large onion
  • 1 pkg
    drained, rinsed and dried saurkraut
  • ·
    olive oil
  • ·
    applejack whiskey or apple liquor
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • ·
    dried sage
  • ·
    garlic powder

How to Make NEW YEAR PORK ROAST

Step-by-Step

  1. preheat oven to 375 -or- crock pot to high

    wash rinse and drain kraut on paper towel

    Season roast with salt, pepper, sage, garlic powder. Set aside
  2. In large saute pan, heat oil, saute apples & onions til golden.

    Add kraut and whiskey-about 1/4 cup.
  3. Layer kraut mixture in bottom of roasting pan or crock pot

    Add roast

    Cook 4 hours in Crock
    -or-
    45min-1hour in oven.
    (if kraut looks dry in oven-add chicken stock or beer to moisten)
