Monte Cristo Waffle- Sandwiches

I saw this recipe on the Rachael Ray Show and thought it was so great and wanted to add it to my other waffle sandwiches and pancakes. I tweaked it a little. Great Recipe- my family loved it- we had a side salad with it like she suggested. ENJOY!
Just think of all the othesandwichhe combinations to put into the waffle iron.
peanut butter and jelly
peanut butter and bananas
scrambled egg and bacon or sausage or ham
bacon and tomato
cheese, tomato,avocado and bacon
peanut butter,chocolate and marshmallows
I could go on and on but you get it........

  • 4 large
  • 1/2 c
    cream or milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    dijon mustard
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 8 slice
    white or brioche bread
  • 1 c
    shredded gruyère cheese
  • 1/4 lb
    deli-sliced ham
  • 1/4 lb
    deli-sliced turkey

How to Make Monte Cristo Waffle- Sandwiches


  1. Preheat your waffle iron to medium heat.
    In a shallow bowl, whisk together, eggs,cream, mustard,salt, pepper, cinnamon and sugar.
  2. Brush waffle maker with melted butter. Build sandwiches; One slice of bread, some cheese, a slice of ham, a slice of turkey, more cheese and another piece of bread.
    Turn sandwiches in batter and place in waffle iron.
    Close waffle iron and cook 5 minutes or until golden brown.
    Serve sandwiches sprinkle with powdered sugar and with melted marmalade or raspberry jelly for dipping.
  3. Note:
    For a nice treat try making your children's sandwiches in the waffle maker- peanut butter and jelly is great or use the above batter and dip in a chocolate chip and marshmallow sandwich . (leave out the mustard and salt and pepper) yummmmm!
