There are many imitations out there, but if it's not deep fried, it's not a Monte Cristo. :)

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Have you ever had this yummy sandwich in a restaurant and wondered how they made it? Penny's version of this sandwich is simple and looks impressive. It's kind of like a donut and sandwich combined into one. The outside of the sandwich is light, sweet, and crispy. A nice contrast to the savory deli meats inside. The smeared jam is like a jelly filling and optional, but highly recommended.
