Ingredients

  • 11/2 pounds lean pork or beef sliced in thin strips
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup sliced,onions
  • 11/2 cups sliced celery
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 package pea pods lg
  • 1 can chinese veg
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 cloves chicken bouillion cubes
  • 21/2 cups water
  • 1 pound can bean sprouts (drained)
  • 1 tablespoon brown gravy
  • 5-oz cans bamboo shoots (drained)
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

How To Make moms chop suey

  • Step 1
    brown beef or pork,mushrooms in shortening add onions.celery,ginger,salt,pepper,bouillon cubes,water: simmer stirring occasionally 20-30 mins until meat is tender.
  • Step 2
    add beansprouts.chestnuts,bamboo shoots conbine cornstarch,soysauce. stir into mixture; simmer 10 min. serve over hot cooked rice or chow mein noodles sprinkle 1/4 toasted almonds (opional)
