Can use beef, or chicken. I prefer sausage. Easy recipe .. Just layer the ingredients and bake.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg
    sausage or 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large
    onion chopped
  • 1
    clove garlic
  • 1 can(s)
    refried beans
  • 1
    jar salsa
  • 8
    flour tortillas... can use 4
  • 2 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese or pepper jack

How to Make Mexican Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown sausage, onion, and garlic ... drain fat
  2. Spray pie pan with cooking oil. Put 2 tortillas in pan and spread with half of sausage mixture. Top with half of cheese. Lay 2 tortillas on top of cheese and spread with retried beans. Lay 2 tortillas on top of beans and spread salsa on top. Lay 2 tortillas on salsa and top with remaining sausage and sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top.
  3. Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes at 350. Remove foil and bake 15 minutes. Let rest 5 minutes. Serve with rice, sour cream, and extra salsa to your desire. Enjoy:)
