Meatloaf with Sweet-and-Hot Sauce

Patty Ward

Found this in an old cook book. We really like meatloaf, so I tried this version and it is very tasty!
My kids and grand kids loved this as well.
Hope you like it to!

How to Make Meatloaf with Sweet-and-Hot Sauce

  1. Combine ingredients for meatloaf; mix well. Spray pan with Pam. Place into loaf pan and bake until an instant read thermometer inserted in middle of loaf reads 155 D/F 45 to 50 minutes. While this is cooking, make the sauce.
  2. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the ketchup (or tomato sauce), sugar, water, vinegar, soy sauce and cayenne. Heat stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil, then immediately whisk in the cornstarch/water mixture. Stir constantly until thickened, about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.
  3. When the meat loaf is done, remove it from the oven, cover to keep warm, and let stand for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Pour off any excess fat in the pan. Cut the meat loaf into slices 1/2 inch thick. Serve immediately with the sweet-and-sour sauce on the side.
