Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 pound italian sausage
  • 1 slice onion, chopped
  • 1 cup instant potato flakes, dry
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

How To Make meat and potato loaf

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Shape into a 7\" meatball.
  • Step 3
    Place a trivet in pot.
  • Step 4
    Place meat ball on a double thickness of cheesecloth (about 24\" square).
  • Step 5
    Holding the ends of cheesecloth, gently lower meat into pot.
  • Step 6
    Loosely fold cloth over top of meat.
  • Step 7
    Cover; cook on low 6-7 hours.
  • Step 8
    Holding ends of cloth, lift meat from pot.
  • Step 9
    Cut into wedges.
  • Step 10
    Makes 6 or 7 wedges.
