I cook the pork cube steak, fry it with onions, make gravy, and put the steaks in the gravy with onions. My husband loves it, and it is so easy to fix it. I like rice with it. They are so good and tasty.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 - 4 pounds pork cube steaks
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • GRAVY
  • 2 tablespoons self-rising flour
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon browning sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste

How To Make lisa's country-fried cube steak with onion gravy

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in a large skillet.
  • Step 2
    Salt and pepper steaks.
  • Step 3
    Dip each one in the self-rising flour, coating both sides.
  • Step 4
    Put the steaks in a hot oil skillet. Turn the heat down to medium-low. Brown both sides.
  • Step 5
    Remove them and put them on a plate.
  • Step 6
    Start the gravy. To the same pan, add flour and let it cook for a few minutes.
  • Step 7
    Add onions and let them cook for a few minutes.
  • Step 8
    Add browning sauce.
  • Step 9
    Slowly add 2 cups of water. Let it cook until it thickens.
  • Step 10
    Put the steaks in the gravy. Let it cook for 45 minutes on a simmer and cover until the steaks are tender and cooked through.
  • Step 11
    Make the mashed potatoes or rice. Put the gravy over mashed potatoes or rice when serving.
