This is a warm comfort food for cool weather. My mother fixed this for us when we were children. It was a favorite then and I still love to fix it.

green bell pepper, chopped (optional)

onions, yellow, medium, diced

(15 oz) diced tomatoes

italian seasoning

elbow macaroni, uncooked

seasoned salt

How to Make Jeanne's Goulash


  • 1Brown the ground beef and ground pork over medium-high heat. Break up the meat while cooking. Spoon off any grease.
  • 2Add the onions and garlic to the pot and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • 3Add 3 cups water, along with the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, seasoned salt, and pepper. Stir well. Cover and allow to simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • 4Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot, and simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • 5Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to sit about 15 minutes more before serving.
