Ingredients
- 5 Italian sausage
- 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into 1/2 inch strips
- 1 medium red bell pepper, cut into 1/2 inch strips
- 1 medium yellow onion, cut into 1/2 inch wedges
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasonings
- 1 1/4 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/4 cups shredded mozzarella
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 5 hoagie rolls
How To Make italian sausage sandwich

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2Brown the sausages until cooked through in a large skillet over medium heat. Plate the sausages and cover to keep warm. Remove all but 1 tablespoon of fat from the skillet.

Step 3Add the bell pepper and onions. Cook the onions and bell peppers over medium heat until soft and lightly browned on the edges. Add the sausage to the bell peppers and warm for a few minutes. Plate the sausages, bell peppers, and onions. Cover to keep warm.

Step 4Butter the buns and toast them in the skillet.

Step 5Assemble the sandwiches by adding a sausage to each toasted bun, then layer with 1/4 cup marinara sauce, cooked bell peppers and onions, and 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella.

Step 6Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place it in the oven. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through.
