This is a quick dinner, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, so good and fast. Just the thing to make on a work night when you want to get out of the kitchen fast. Serve with nice hot Italian bread or french bread some good olive oil a salad, glass of merlot and your done.

Ingredients

  • 2 packages italian sausage hot or mild, about 10 sausages
  • 1 large green bell pepper seeded and cut in strips
  • 1 large red bell pepper seeded and cut into strips
  • 1 large purple onion peeled and cut in thick slices
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic smashed or put through a garlic press
  • 1/4 cup good virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to your liking

How To Make italian sausage and peppers, butifaras italianas con ajies fritos

  • Step 1
    put sausages in a deep skillet, add 1 cup of water. Cover and let steam for 20 minutes. Watch carefully you do not want the water to dry up. If the water start to evaporate add a little more.
  • Step 2
    Next take out sausages and put in a baking pan and put under the grill. Turn after three minutes until grilled golden on each side. About three minutes on each side. Be careful to not pierce the sausages
  • Step 3
    While the sausages are cooking heat the olive oil and saute the peppers, garlic and onion. Add the oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper, Saute until the peppers are al dente crisp fried you do not want limp peppers. Saute about 6/8 minutes. Remove from the heat to a platter.
  • Step 4
    Take browned sausages from out under the broiler and set on top of the peppers and onions. Add a little olive oil over the sausages and let rest for 5 minutes. Serve with crusty bread and a salad. Yum Enjoy
