italian sausage and peppers

I picked up a variety of sausages at Usinger's in Milwaukee, including Italian. This is my version of one of their recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 1 large onion
  • 12-16 ounces Italian sausage
  • 1 jar marinara sauce or similar (about 28 oz)
  • 1 clove grated garlic, or equivalent garlic granules
  • 1 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • shredded Parmesan, to serve

How To Make italian sausage and peppers

  • Step 1
    Slice peppers into strips, cut onions into slices. Heat oil in a large pot and add peppers and onions, saute until limp.
  • Step 2
    Either slice sausages or remove from casing and crumble. Add to peppers and onions and stir until browned or no pink shows.
  • Step 3
    Add spaghetti sauce and seasonings, and simmer together for 30 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle with Parmesan to serve - either over pasta or in a hoagie-type roll.
