This recipe comes from the heart of Ham Country... Smithfield, VA, given to me by a dear friend. I have used this method for many years... and it's the best country ham you "ever sunk your tooth into"......

water
1 c
ginger ale
1 large
roasting pan

How to Make HOW TO BAKE A COUNTRY HAM

Step-by-Step

  • 1For 12 to 20 lb. ham. Scrub and soak for 24 hrs in cold water.
  • 2Remove tough fat skin. Place in roaster with water and ginger ale. Cover.
  • 3Place in cold oven. Heat to 400 degrees and hold for 20 minutes. Turn oven off.

    Wait 4 hours, reheat oven to 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Turn off oven and leave over night.

    DO NOT OPEN OVEN THE ENTIRE TIME.
