This recipe came from a good friend of the family. If you have ever had a cookout and bought one of those really large packages of hot dogs, only to find out you have way too many left over - well this is a great way to use them up.

Ingredients

  • 16 - hot dogs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package egg noodles
  • 1 can tomato sauce (28 oz)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 small green pepper, diced

How To Make hot dogs a new way

  • Step 1
Slice hot dogs into penny size slices and brown in butter over medium - high heat. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add onions, green pepper, mix well and saute for a couple of minutes, until the onions become translucent. Add sugar, vinegar, tomato sauce and stir well.
  • Step 2
Lower the heat and let simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
While that is simmering, prepare egg noodles according to the package directions.
  • Step 4
Serve the sauce on top of the egg noodles.
