I have no idea where I got this recipe and I've tweaked it a bit over the years. The first time I ever made this, I totally messed it up, but it was still really good! The look on people's faces when they try it for the first time is priceless! Since it makes so much, its a really good pot-luck dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground ham
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground pork
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 cup dried bread crumbs (or more)
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • Scant 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (but you really don't need it)
  • 2 tablespoons dry mustard
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • FOR THE GLAZE
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons dry mustard

How To Make ham loaf

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, combine the ham, pork, eggs, bread crumbs, evaporated milk, salt and ground black pepper. Mix all together well and form into a loaf. Place loaf into a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 350 for about an hour.
  • Step 4
    While the loaf is baking, mix up the ingredients for the glaze.
  • Step 5
    After the loaf has been baking for an hour or so, pour the glaze on it and bake it for another 20-30 minutes.
